Smoke-Free Apartments/Condos
Health Promotion

Did you know more and more housing complexes and worksites are going smoke-free? With smoke-free housing, smoking is not allowed in any building. This helps limit exposure to second hand smoke.

Smokers can still live in the units, but cannot smoke inside them.

Secondhand smoke (SHS) is the third leading cause of preventable disease in the US. There are 53,000 people who die each year as a result of secondhand smoke exposure.  A neighbor’s smoking can bother residents living in apartments and condos. SHS from one housing unit to another may seep through cracks, or travel by a shared ventilation system and enter into the living space of another.
