Ticket handouts seemed to go well

UCHD officials saying wait times are cut down significantly

The Utah County Health Department (UCHD) said Monday morning that the reservation ticket hand out seemed to be going well so far.

"We have heard wait times of up to 40 minutes, but that was with the initial rush," said Lance Madigan, UCHD public information officer. "By 11 o'clock, people were just walking up and getting tickets."

Last week, some individuals waited in line for H1N1 vaccinations as much as four and five hours. “You do have to come in twice, but the most anyone will have to wait is less than an hour each day,” said Madigan. He explained that the system will be re-evaluated again at the end of the week as well. "For instance, we are trying to address how to get tickets out into the community and to do evening clinics. At present, we have had such a demand during regular business hours that we couldn't address these other options. When the vaccine become plentiful, it will be easy. Until then, we just are doing the best we can and appreciate everyone's patience.”

Madigan said the UCHD has about twice as much H1N1 vaccine to give out this week. “We continue to get more all the time,” he said. “That is something to remember – we will eventually have enough vaccine for everyone that wants it. Although we are focusing on CDC priority groups now, we will open it up to everyone as more vaccine becomes available.”

More details about how the reservation system works are available on the UCHD’s web site at www.UtahCountyHealth.org or by calling the UCHD hotline at 801-851-2222 or calling United Way’s 2-1-1 information line. Updates are also available by following the UCHD at Twitter or by becoming a fan on FaceBook.
