Son and Daughter in Law Arrested in Payson Canyon Homicide

Roger and Pam Mortensen were arrested late on July 29, 2010 in the murder of Roger's father, Kay Mortensen, on November 16, 2009.

The Utah County Sheriffs Office in conjunction with the Utah County Attorney’s Office, and other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, have spent several months investigating numerous leads and conducting many interviews in regards to the Kay Mortensen homicide.

On July 28th and 29th 2010, a grand jury convened in American Fork to investigate the murder of Kay S. Mortensen. On Thursday evening, the grand jury found there was clear and convincing evidence to issue indictments for murder and obstruction of justice against both Roger and Pamela Mortensen. Subsequently, a 4th District Court judge issued arrest warrants, and Roger and Pam were arrested that night without incident. Roger Mortensen is facing additional charges in regards to firearms and illegal drugs that were located in the home during the execution of a search warrant at the time of their arrest.

Kay Mortensen was killed on November 16th, 2009 in his home up Payson Canyon, Utah. Roger and Pamela Mortensen claimed to have been held hostage during an alleged home invasion robbery during which Kay was killed.
