Woman's Body Found in Hobble Creek Canyon

The body of an unidentified woman was found in Hobble Creek Canyon near the Jolley's Ranch recreation area. Circumstances are suspicious.

On February 21, 2010, at about 4:10 P.M. dispatchers with the Utah Valley Dispatch Special Service District received a call from a woman who reported she found a woman's body near the Jolley's Ranch recreation area in Hobble Creek Canyon near Springville. The woman was snow shoeing in the area when she found the body.

Deputies and Detectives with the Utah County Sheriff's Office responded to the are to investigate the death. The woman's body has not yet been identified but circumstances of the death are suspicious. Investigators say the woman is white, 25-35 years of age, about 5'3", 130 pounds, with dirty blond hair and small white earrings. Another unique feature is that the victim was wearing two hearing aids.

A suspect in this case has been arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail. The suspect, Damien Allister Candland, age 22, Provo, was booked into the Utah County Jail on one charge of Aggravated Murder. The name of the victim is not being released pending further notification of family members.

***** 2/22/2010 11:50 A.M. UPDATE ***** The victim in this case is Amy Candland, age 41, of Provo. Amy is an aunt to the supect in this case, Damien Candland.
