What is WIC?
Women, Infants and Children, WIC, is a nutrition program for low-income women who are pregnant, recently had a baby, or breastfeeding, and for children up to age five. WIC helps children when they are growing the most and can help families develop life-long health habits.
WIC provides:
- Nutritious foods
- Nutrition education
- Breastfeeding help
- Referrals to other community agencies
WIC helps those who participate. For example, pregnant women who receive WIC benefits have less chance of having a baby born early. Their children also have higher iron levels.
We encourage you to learn more about WIC and see how it can help you and your family.
