Back to Sleep!
SIDS
What Does Back to Sleep Mean?
Back to Sleep is a reminder of how healthy babies should be placed when going to sleep…on their backs! This is the safe way for baby to sleep to reduce the chance of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
Who Sponsors the Back to Sleep campaign?
Does Putting Baby Back to Sleep Really Reduce SIDS?
Yes! Since the Back to Sleep campaign was started more parents and caregivers of infants put babies to sleep on their backs. And during that time the rates of SIDS have declined by more than 50%.
Who Needs to Know about Back to Sleep?
Everyone! It is important for parents, family members, child care providers, health professionals, and all other caregivers of infants to know about Back to Sleep. If baby is put back to sleep by most caregivers but others lay baby on her stomach or side it can be dangerous and may lead to SIDS. It is important for baby to sleep on her back every time she sleeps.
