Feeding Your Child

Feeding a toddler or preschooler can be an adventure! For your child it is a world of new foods, textures, and experiences. Some children are more open to change, while others like to have things more the same and consistent. It is also a time where children are learning so much about food and eating habits that will stay with them their whole life. They are growing so quickly and need all the important nutrients to help them stay healthy. One key to remember is this is a time to teach children to eat like adults. This means they need a wide variety of foods and textures and be taught good manners. But they do not learn it all in a day! With consistent effort they can learn to be flexible, healthy eaters.

About Listeriosis

Listeriosis (li-steer-ee-oh-sis) is a bacterial infection. It occurs most often in infants and elderly patients, but anyone can become infected. The symptoms of this bacterial infection can be mild or severe. The bacteria are found most often in water and soil. Infected animals may also spread the bacteria. Certain foods can become contaminated with Listeria. Pregnant women, young children and those with weaker immune systems especially need to be careful about Listeria. There are ways to help make sure that food is safe from Listeria.
