CURRENT TRENDS IN SUBSTANCE ABUSEUtah County has the lowest rates of substance abuse in the state of Utah, however, we still have a significant problem. Rates of abuse for some substances have risen rapidly over the past several years. Methamphetamine abuse and addiction has become a tremendous problem in Utah County over the past few years, although recent trends indicate that it may be declining in popularity. Heroin and prescription opiate abuse are an increasing problem in the south part of the County. Marijuana use among Utah County youth is the single largest drug problem faced by families. Alcohol, a legal drug, will always be a significant problem. | |
