FOOD HANDLERS CLASSES The Utah County Health Department offers classes in English every Tuesday*, except where noted, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Classes are held in Room #2500 of the Utah County Health and Justice Building, 151 South University Avenue, Provo, Utah. SPECIAL NOTE 1. There are no longer evening classes. 2. An online class is now available by accessing our website at www.utahcountyonline.org 3. There will be NO food handlers classes offered November 11, 2008. 3. A food handlers class is also offered in Spanish the 1st Wednesday of every month. This class is offered from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm in Room #2500. 4. If you have a current food handlers permit from another health department, you may register with our county by showing us your current permit and paying a $15.00 fee. BE ON TIME. No one will be admitted after the class starts. Please bring a pen or pencil. Please plan on two hours for the class. Arrange with employers and/or teachers to attend the class. A fee of $15.00 cash will be collected at the beginning of the class. We do not accept checks or credit/debit cards. For individuals needing special requirements covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act, please contact our office at 851-7525 two weeks in advance so we can make arrangements.   RENEWALS Renewals can be obtained at the Division of Environmental Health, Suite 2600, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. for a fee of $15.00. If your permit has expired, you may retake the class or pass a test to demonstrate the necessary knowledge, if it has been less than a year of expiration. COPIES A duplicate of your food handler permit can be obtained at the same above location for a fee of $5.00. NOTICE TO EMPLOYERS Please post this announcement in a conspicuous place and arrange for all to attend who do not currently have permits. If you have any questions, please call the Health Department at 851-7525. REGULATIONS GOVERNING FOOD HANDLERS PERMITS R392-100 : Food Service Sanitation Rule requires that any individual working in a food establishment must have a valid food handler's permit. Utah County food handler's permits are valid for two years. The Utah County Health Department does offer on-site food handler training.
