A valid Utah County business license is required for all businesses that are located within the unincorporated limits of Utah County. If your business base location is within a city, you must contact that city for a license.
A business license is the means whereby Utah County Government grants permission to engage is a business activity at a specific location within the County. The definition of a business means any enterprise carried on for the purpose of gain or economic profit, except for the acts of employees rendering services to employers.
A local license provides assurance that the business location is properly zoned for the activity being conducted. Licensing also verifies compliance with state and local codes. This helps ensure the well being of employees and citizens.
State of Utah requires businesses to receive the following as applicable for your specific business (contact the specific office for explanation and requirements) :
Utah County Government current fee schedule and ordinance.
All licenses, unless expressly provided in the ordinance or code, shall be issued for one (1) year commencing July 1st of any year and expiring June 30th of the following year.
Renewal notices are mailed in June for the fiscal year (July 1st of the current year through June 30th of the following year).
Upon closure of your Utah County business, please notify the business licensing department. The notification needs to include the business name, location and last date of business activity.
