UGIC 2002 Conference |

The Utah Geographic Information Council is proud announce that UGIC 2002 has been scheduled for September 18-20, 2002 at Ruby's Inn, Bryce Canyon. This conference will be the premier GIS event in the State of Utah for 2002. Below are some of the conference high points:
The UGIC conferences bring together GIS practitioners from all levels of government and private enterprise. People who may never have had the opportunity to meet and share experiences are brought together in a free and open environment where ideas are shared freely and professional relationships are formed. From these interactions a State-wide synergy is developed that benefits all citizens of the State of Utah.
UGIC 2002 brings together vendors from all over the Country as well as the State of Utah. You will be able to get information about new products and services at what can only be described as a GIS mall.
Pre-conference workshops allow users with limited training funds to obtain professional cutting-edge education on various GIS related technologies.
UGIC 2002 is a conference designed by GIS users, for GIS users, and all of the conference workshops are presented by GIS users or GIS vendors. Rubber meets to road kind of presentations.
UGIC 2002 is in one of the most beautiful locations in the State of Utah. Bryce Canyon with its mystical landscape and the high elevations of the Paunsaugunt plateau (9,000 feet), the top step of the famed "Grand Staircase", provide a exquisite backdrop for this year's conference.

Mosquito control information will be presented by mosquito control workers, mosquito control products vendors, university educators and national organization representatives. Development Tracking System Presentation |
| |
Roger Dunn will be presenting an application called the Development Tracking System which he has coded for the past year and a half. Development Services uses this program to attach development projects to maps, such as fence permits, rezones, and plats. The projects are then tracked as they go from the Development Review Committee, to Planning Commission, and on to City Council. The program was written using Delphi and incorporates ESRI's COM based ArcObjects.

3rd Annual West Nile Virus Meeting |

West Nile Virus is likely to arrive in Utah in the near future, so this
conference will focus on surveillance from the perspective of each
agency involved. We will also have a session that focuses on training
and notification for the first case of WNV in Utah (whether it be
mosquito, horse, bird, or human).
Topics include:
Surveillance and reporting of West Nile Virus, West Nile Virus updates from Utah Department of Health, Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, Division of Wildlife Resources, Mosquito Abatement, Utah Public Health Laboratory and more.

Jeni will show present a demonstration of crive mapping using Spillman records data in ArcView 3.3. Work-arounds and issues such as Spillman access through Dharma OBDC SDK Driver, geocoding in ArcView, adding an XY Coordinate (versus Spillman's Geobase Coordinates), maintaining data in a common Access database, and future directions. |
