Utah County Courts
Utah County Justice Court has the authority to deal with Class B and C misdemeanors, violations of ordinances, small claims and infractions committed within County Jurisdiction.
The Justice Court shares jurisdiction with the Juvenile Court over minors 16 or 17 years old, who are charged with certain traffic offenses.
County attorneys prosecute cases involving violations of County ordinances and state law in the county courts.
Utah County Attorney
The County Attorney provides legal representation to Utah County Government
Duties of the County Attorney include:
- Prosecution of felony level crimes that occur in Utah County.
- Prosecution of misdemeanor crimes that occur in Utah County, but outside the boundaries of any incorporated city.
- Prosecution of all juvenile crimes that occur in Utah County, excepting minor traffic offenses.
- Victim assistance services in cases prosecuted by the County Attorney's office.
- Advise and assist all Utah County police agencies in their criminal investigations.
- Conduct some criminal investigations.
- Provide legal advice and representation to Utah County Government officials and departments.
- Handle all claims filed against Utah County Government.
Utah County Sheriff's Office
The Utah County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of Utah County and contract cities, as well as co-operative support services to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and organizations.
