Living Well Classes for those with chronic diseases |

The Utah County Health Department, Utah Arthritis Program, and Mountainlands Association is promoting Living Well with Chronic Conditions. Classes sessions are two hours, held once a week for six weeks and are free to individuals living with a chronic condition such as asthma, arthritis, fibromyalgia, cancer, heart disease, emphysema, depression, or chronic pain. |

Garden of Hope |

The Garden of Hope will offer women ages 40 to 64 free and low cost services, information, fun and prizes. Sponsored by the Utah County Health Department, it will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, March 24 and 25th from 8:30 a.m. am to 12 noon. Free screenings include breast exams, pap smears, and skin cancer screenings by appointment qualifying individuals (skin cancer screening doesn't require an appointment). Fasting cholesterol tests will also be offered by appointment for $23. All appointments will take place in the UCHD Women's Clinic on the first floor of the Utah County Health and Justice Building. It is located at 151 S University Ave, Provo. The health fair will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon each day. For information or to schedule an appointment, please call 851-7031 or 801-851-7092. |

April is Clean out the Cabinet month. The Utah County Substance Misuse and Abuse Reduction Team (SMART) want to encourage all residents to properly dispose of old or unused medications so they cannot be misused. Over 70 percent of teens who abuse pain medication say they got their pills from a friend or relative. NEVER flush medications down the drain. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day |

Agencies across the county will come together again on April 10th to take your old or unused household chemicals and properly dispose of them so they don't pollute our environment. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will take place Saturday, April 10th from 9 am to 3 pm at the Utah Valley University Northwest Parking Area (about 1200 West and 800 South, in Orem).
